I do admit I cheated a smidge yesterday. I used honey mustard to dip my (homemade!) sweet potato fries in! BUT, I used a helluva lot less than I ever did before. I used to take up half a plate with dipping sauce, but now I used 1 tbsp, so for me, that is a pretty big accomplishment. That's where the step by step comes in. In order for this to become a life change, I realize that cold turkey is not the way to go for me. That is where a lot of other "diet plans" and "weight loss plans" fail. You are considered a failure. A cheater. If you deviate from "the plan." If I want this to be a long term thing, I have to understand that as long as I am doing better than yesterday I am still headed in the right direction. Would I like to be perfect? Of course. Will it happen in 3 days? Probably not...
So anyhow, yesterday was pretty good. For breakfast I participated in some Greek yogurt with berries and honey, snacks consisted of almonds, lunch was as planned, but supper had to change due to lack of items for chili. So...I created turkey burgers. I used black beans, ground extra lean turkey, 1 egg, a handful of oats, and a bit of cilantro. They looked a bit more like meatballs, than burgers, but we had them for dinner with my sweet potato fries (hallelujah for my fry cutter!). We forgoed the buns and wrapped them in lettuce with tomato and low fat cheddar ( I only had 1 slice!!)...nummy nummy. After waiting a bit for our dinner to digest, I then whipped up some Triple Berry Threat Yogurt for dessert. (See the recipe below) Dessert has always been a difficult thing for me. I grew up on a farm where we had desserts after every dinner, so my palate screams for sugar after eating something dinnery (yes, that is a new word!).
Triple Berry Threat Recipe:
1 cup of plain Greek yogurt
1 tbsp of natural honey (bought at the St. Norbert's farmers market!)
5 blueberries
5 raspberries
5 blackberries
Mix all in a blender (I use the Magic Bullet because it is a small amount so you can use the smaller cups), pour into little bowls, top with berries and let sit in refrigerator for 1 hour.

Goal for the day: 25 minute walk
Feeling thus far: Today is good. I am still waking up with a little swelling, but it is less already. I think the more water I drink the better it gets (surprise, surprise.) I took note of my feelings toward my eating the honey mustard and at first I had the ultimate deep despair of "oh, how could I?" then I had the revelation above. So feeling better :)
Plan for food today:
B: 1 cup greek yogurt with a handful of steel cut oats, 1 tsp of honey, and 2 tbsp of fresh squeeze orange juice
S: handful of almonds
L:leftover turkey burger cut up and put into a salad with balsamic and oil salad dressing
S:almonds
Su: homemade turkey chili ( I will get the ingredients!)
Water Intake:96 oz (4 water bottles)
I rate your day "D" for delicious!!!! Yummmmmm!!!
